Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-11 (MPP)(FR)

Serves as Senior Information Technology Specialist supporting a wide range of equipment and applications running on a variety of platforms with responsibility for diagnosing and resolving problems in response to customer reported incidents.-Provides technical assistance to users in information processing functions and operations (e.g., programs, software and hardware characteristics, operating systems, peripheral usage, and communication methods).-Installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs hardware components, communication devices, and peripherals for all computer systems. -Provides computer training to the Area Office personnel. Conducts classroom instruction, informal seminars or one-on-one instruction.-Plans, develops, installs, and maintains PC-based and telecommunication networks.-Performs studies, develops proposals, and recommends installation of new or modified LAN hardware and software, including communications lines, multi-plexers, routers and switches.-Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed IT systems, and implements necessary measures to protect against unauthorized access to systems, network and data.-Analyzes existing and planned computer systems, networks, communications, software, hardware, peripherals, and other related information processing elements for feasibility, reliability, efficiency, effectiveness, consistency, cost, and the overall impact of implementation, modification or change.-Conducts risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed IT systems, and implements necessary measures to protect against unauthorized access to systems, network and data. Applicants must have specialized experience or education as defined below:
GS-11:
One year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service; OR, three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or equivalent degree or a Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, technology management or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.For all grades, individuals must have IT related experience demonstrating each of the following for competencies:

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.Foreign Education:
To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, applicants must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.Definition of Specialized
Experience:
To meet specialized experience, your resume must describe experience that demonstrates the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities as follows:
Experience planning, providing, and delivering of a full range of IT customer support services to the organization. Experience in LAN administration, telecommunications, installing, configuring, testing, upgrading, and troubleshooting hardware and software components; presenting formal and informal IT related training and assistance to customers; responding and ensuring resolution to IT related customer requests. These examples are not all inclusive. Experience that would not normally be part of an applicant's position may be creditable when documented by satisfactory evidence (e.g., a memorandum from the manager or human resources director, SF-52, or similar documentation). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
